Why I do what I do - Part 2

Since I already shared why I do this I thought it would be nice to share some of why I live a frugal lifestyle.

1. Respect - In our family it's my husbands job to make the money and it's my job to spend it. I figure I'm not a very nice wife if I go out and spend like crazy - and then tell him to go make more money. My husband works hard for our family and I need to work hard at spending that money wisely.

Another part of this is respect, or maybe gratitude is a better word, for the blessings Heavenly Father has given to our family. He has given us everything we have, including the ability to provide for ourselves. That's why I feel I need to be a wise steward.

2. My Children - We have chosen to have (and been blessed) with a large family. As many of you know children can cost a lot of money. In order to give my children what they need, and some of their wants too, I need to make wise choices and try and get the most bang for my buck.
In addition to this I'ts also my responsibility to teach my children. I feel I need to teach them to be wise with their money and the best way to do that is by example.

3. Responsibility - I have to admit I'm not super great at being "green" but I do try and conserve resources where I can. I'm amazed at what you can buy used for a fraction of the price of what you would pay for it new. I like to think that I'm doing my small part at reducing the amount of stuff that gets taken to our landfills and the amount of "stuff" that clutters store shelves and eventually our lives. Living less really is living more.

4. Last but not least, It's fun!!! - I love the thrill of finding a super good buy or saving money on something. I can't explain the excitement, but if your a frugal person like me you probably know exactly what I'm talking about.

These are just a few of the reasons why we live the way we do.
Why do you live a frugal lifestyle? I'd love to hear about it.

Live less, live more

Why I do What I Do

I thought I'd take just a second and share why I do this.

You all know me. I'm the lady in the lady in the grocery store who leans over to you and says "you know those are on sale at such and such a place for such and such price." You may look at me like I'm a little crazy, don't worry it's happened before. Or you may look at me, smile and thank me, or you may even say "yes I know! isn't that a great deal." I've heard them all, and love them all. Maybe not the crazy looks so much but I can deal with it.

The truth is if I know something is on sale or if I have come across a way to save money, it's really hard for me to keep it to myself.

I used to send emails to friends when all the back to school sales were on, letting them know what to get where. Now with the advent of the blog, I can share what I know with millions.
Now please don't think that I know everything because I don't! I'm learning, mostly through trial and error, right along with the rest of you. That's why I love to get feedback in the comments (hint hint) and learn what has worked for you.
Even if I can't run into you in the grocery store I hope I can share some little tidbit of information that will help you in some way.
Thanks for listening.

Happy New Year

Happy 2011 Everyone!
If you haven't noticed, I've been away for a little while. But here I am on New Years Day resolving to pay more attention to this little blog. Really I just need to manage my time better. Anyone else planning on doing that this next year? ;)

I've started a list of post ideas but also wanted your input. What frugal skills would you like to develop and learn more about?
Post a comment and let me know and over the course of 2011 we'll learn and save together.

Live less, live more
